More Than A Candle, a family-owned soy candle store, is seeking a personable and customer-oriented Part-Time Retail Sales Associate to join our team. As a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service, promoting our unique line of soy candles, and ensuring an enjoyable shopping experience for our valued customers. This position offers 1-2 days a week, with the potential for additional hours during peak seasons.

  • High School Diploma: Minimum educational requirement.

  • Basic Computer Understanding: Comfortable using basic computer systems and point-of-sale operations.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Product Knowledge: Interest in and willingness to learn about candles or related products.
  • Availability: Part-time availability, working 1-2 days a week, with the potential for increased hours during busy seasons or as needed.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.


  • Customer Service: Welcome customers warmly, assist them in finding products, and provide relevant information and recommendations about our soy candles.
  • Sales and Promotion: Utilize your interpersonal skills to engage customers, highlight the features and benefits of our soy candles, and encourage upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Operations: Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using basic computer skills. Handle cash, credit card, and other payment methods with attention to detail.
  • Merchandising: Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment by ensuring candles are well-stocked, properly displayed, and attractively presented.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay updated on our soy candles' characteristics, fragrances, and sizes to provide accurate information and relay promotions and special offers to customers.
  • Customer Support: Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and promptly, aiming to resolve issues to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing incoming shipments. Monitor stock levels and communicate restocking needs to the store manager.
  • Store Operations: Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations, follow opening and closing procedures, maintain security measures, and participate in periodic stock counts.
  • Seasonal Support: Be available to work additional hours during busy seasons, such as holidays or special events, as determined by the store manager.
